Kevin Callahan – Guitarist/Founder
Since seeing Led Zeppelin play in Mobile, Alabama, back in ‘73, Kevin has been hooked on the blues and rock music. The story of Special Mister Ed starts with both Kevin’s love of music and his day job. He is the Executive Director for the UNT Kristin Farmer Autism Center and it’s through his involvement with the Autism Center that Kevin decided to enter a “Battle of the Bands” to raise money to benefit families in need who use the Autism Center. Only he didn’t have a band. Kevin put the wheels were in motion for what would become the nucleus of Special Mister Ed. Our name is an homage to Kevin’s work in the world of special education.
Shawn “King Louis” Farrar – Drummer
Shawn is an original member of Special Mister Ed from the “Battle of the Bands” days. Shawn is well-seasoned, having played with a variety of bands and a wide variety of music styles, including heavy metal, blues, experimental music and country.
Cassandra “Lady Cass” Berry – Lead Vocalist
Lady Cass is the voice for Special Mister Ed. Cass joined Special Mister Ed shortly after formation. Lady Cass has had a passion for music and singing since she was a young child. Her musical roots are in gospel and R&B. Lady Cass is intense on stage, and if even your aren’t feeling it before the show, she will make sure you have fun and leave with a smile on your face.
Brandy Leach – Background Vocalist
Brandy arrived to Special Mister Ed from a musical theater and choral background. An accomplished singer, Brandy adds a fullness to the Special Mister Ed sound, providing harmonies, additional lead vocals, and percussion. .
Mike Russell – Bass Guitarist
Russ is the glue that holds Special Mister Ed together. Russ’ bass lines will get your booty shaking in a Special Mister Ed show. Besides playing bass, Russ is a guitarist and drummer, and has performed with several bands around Dallas/Fort Worth. In addition to being a multi-instrumentalist, Russ is a pinball wizard and connoisseur of pinball machines.
Stephen Hale – Harmonica/Backup Vocalist
Stephen grew up in Dixie, as well as the Lone Star state. “Harmonica Hale,” as he is sometimes known, is an avid blues fan and has shared the stage with many notable local, regional, and international recording artists.
Mike Daniels – Keyboardist
Mike, a relative newcomer to Special Mister Ed, plays organ and keys. A former radio DJ in the El Paso market, Mike’s love of music led him to take up the bass guitar and keyboards. He also is involved in audio production and recording. Mike’s musical roots are in 70’s-80’s rock, modern praise and worship music, and the blues.
Roman Flute – Guitarist
Roman is the newest addition to Special Mister Ed. He has played around the Dallas/Fort Worth scene in a wide range of bands over the years, as well as performing session work. A blues and southern rock fan, Roman’s influences include Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Duane Allman, and Dickie Betts.
